JUST IN: Steelers Land Lightning-Fast Cornerback in Major Free Agency Move!

The Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback is poised to reach free agency in March after being traded to the team last offseason. In his one season with the Steelers, he started well but saw his effectiveness deteriorate as the season continued. His future with the squad is uncertain, but he has stated a wish to return.

During an appearance on the Christian Kuntz Podcast, he reflected on his time in Pittsburgh, saying he enjoyed it and would be delighted to rejoin the squad.

“I hope I’m back,” Jackson stated. “Another free agency period is coming up. I am simply pleased to be in this position, signing a third deal. Most guys don’t even make it to the second. It is a blessing to have this chance for me and my family. We love Pittsburgh, but at the end of the day, business is business.”

Jackson missed two games late in the season due to a chronic back injury, which hampered his physicality and overall play. Despite a good start, injuries hampered his performance. He was traded to the Steelers by the Carolina Panthers for Diontae Johnson, although he struggled as the team’s second cornerback near the end of the season.

This year, Jackson had a career-high five interceptions, but his future position with the Steelers is unknown. The team may look for new talent at both the outside and slot cornerback positions. If Jackson does return, he will most likely do so on a low-cost contract, maybe as a veteran placeholder or depth option.
