Penn State receiver Omari Evans picks transfer destination; where will he play next?

Former Penn State receiver Omari Evans left the Lions via the NCAA transfer portal earlier this week after spending the last three seasons in State College. Now, he knows where he will play next. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reports that the Kileen, Tex., native is moving on to Washington. He has one season of eligibility remaining.

Evans caught 21 passes for 415 yards and five touchdowns for the Nittany Lions in 2024. All were career highs. Over his first two seasons, he combined for just nine catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns, making his career stat line 30-564-7 in blue and white.

What does the Penn State receivers room look like in 2024?

It is not a surprise that the Penn State receivers room is undergoing a significant overhaul after the group failed to record a reception in the Nittany Lions’ 27-24 loss to Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl. Trey WallaceOmari EvansTyler Johnson, and Mehki Flowers all left via the transfer portal. Julian Fleming is out of eligibility. That leaves redshirt senior Liam Clifford as the top returning receiver in third-year position coach Marques Hagans’ room. He caught 18 passes for 286 yards and one touchdown in 2024. For his career, the Ohio native has 39 receptions for 505 yards and a touchdown. Other scholarship returners include (eligibility listed is what they will be in 2025): Redshirt juniors Kaden Saunders and Anthony Ivey and sophomores Tyseer DenmarkJosiah Brown, and Peter Gonzalez.
