The Wildcats were essentially without two starters — point guard Lamont Butler and forward Andrew Carr — and top backup point guard Kerr Kriisa for their 78-73 win over the eighth-ranked Volunteers. No. 12 Kentucky, now 15-5 overall and 4-3 in SEC play, stopped a brief two-game losing run with the win, which came despite significant injury challenges. Following the shock victory over Tennessee, UK coach Mark Pope shared some insight into his team’s persistent injury issues. Let’s take a closer look at each of the Wildcats’ injuries.The good news for Kentucky fans is that they won’t have to wait long to hear more about Butler, Carr, Kriisa, and any other Wildcats who aren’t fully healthy. Pope will do his weekly radio show Wednesday night before meeting with reporters in Lexington for his weekly news conference on Thursday afternoon. The SEC injury report for both UK and Arkansas will be released on Friday night, leading up to their highly anticipated Saturday night showdown at Rupp Arena. Arkansas freshman guard Boogie Fland, like Kriisa, is almost certainly going to be on that injury report. Fland, a former Calipari recruit at UK, had surgery. This season, he averages 15.1 points, 5.7 assists, and 1.5 steals.earlier this month to treat a right thumb injury. Fland is probably sidelined for the rest of the season.
