Leonard Hamilton, the head coach of Florida State basketball, declared on Monday that he will retire at the end of this season. After this season, Hamilton, who has spent 23 seasons with the Seminoles, will be retiring. Luke Loucks, an assistant with the Sacramento Kings, is one candidate Florida State should keep an eye on throughout its coaching search. In college, Loucks was a member of the Seminoles, and thus far, he has been an effective NBA coach.
Jeff Goodman wrote, “Look for Luke Loucks, a former Florida State player and current Sacramento Kings assistant, to be heavily involved in the conversations to replace Leonard Hamilton, a source told @TheFieldOf68.” Loucks, 34, is regarded as a rising talent as an NBA assistant and was a player for the Seminoles from 2008 to 2012. He worked in player development for Golden State as well.
There is a possibility that Luke Loucks, who played for Leonard Hamilton in college, will succeed him as head coach of the Florida State basketball program.
Hamilton has a message to give about this significant decision as he wraps up the rest of this season.
In a statement, Hamilton stated, “I am incredibly grateful for the amazing support of our fans, alumni, and everyone associated with Florida State throughout my time here.” “I am proud of the caliber of the young men I had the honor of mentoring, for their belief in this program and the values we have worked to inculcate in them over the years. I am incredibly grateful for the experience and opportunity we have had here.
Under Hamilton, the Florida State basketball program has experienced great success. In addition to winning the ACC Tournament and the ACC regular season championship in 2020, Hamilton has guided the squad to several deep runs in the NCAA Tournament.
