Latest Saints News: Kellen Moore moving with 3 Eagle’s star players to Saints This Offseason.

As the NFL offseason progresses, Philadelphia Eagles fans might not be surprised if three of their players follow former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to the New Orleans Saints. Following the Eagles’ Super Bowl 59 victory, Moore accepted a head coaching position with the Saints after just one season in Philadelphia. While many fans support his new opportunity, his departure has stirred some controversy as he has already recruited coaching staff to New Orleans. It wouldn’t be shocking if he attempted to bring some players with him as well.

One potential candidate to join Moore is wide receiver Britain Covey. After an injury-riddled 2024 season that limited him to just five games, Covey could benefit from a fresh start. His ability as a return specialist makes him an attractive option for the Saints, who ranked near the bottom in special teams performance last season. Covey led the NFL with 417 punt return yards in 2023, which could help boost the Saints’ struggling unit. Additionally, under Moore’s system, Covey saw an increased offensive role, going from an average of 3.6 snaps per game in 2023 to 10.0 in 2024. Now set to become a free agent, Covey joining Moore in New Orleans is a strong possibility.

Another player who might make the move is running back Kenneth Gainwell. The Saints need depth behind Alvin Kamara, as their current options—Kendre Miller, Jamaal Williams, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire—come with injury concerns or declining production. Gainwell has been a reliable backup for the Eagles since being drafted in 2021, amassing 1,185 rushing yards, 721 receiving yards, and 13 touchdowns over four seasons. However, Saquon Barkley’s arrival in Philadelphia significantly reduced Gainwell’s opportunities last season. Given his familiarity with Moore’s system and the Saints’ need for a reliable backup, Gainwell could be a cost-effective addition in free agency.

The third potential candidate is offensive guard Mekhi Becton. After four seasons with the New York Jets, Becton signed a one-year deal with the Eagles and improved significantly under Moore’s system. He allowed just 34 pressures while reducing his penalties and earned much higher Pro Football Focus grades than in his final Jets season. With the Saints needing upgrades on the offensive line, Moore may push for Becton’s signing. NFL insider Albert Breer has suggested the Eagles may let Becton walk, making his move to New Orleans a realistic scenario.

With Moore shaping his new team, these three Eagles players could soon be wearing Saints uniforms.
