The Las Vegas Raiders appear to be making moves as they approach free agency, potentially placing another player on the trade block. Reports indicate that running back Zamir White and tight end Michael Mayer could be available for trade this offseason, signaling that the team is in the process of reshaping its roster.
White had an opportunity to step into the starting role last season after Josh Jacobs departed for the Green Bay Packers. However, he was unable to secure the position. Drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Georgia, White has yet to have a breakout season since entering the league. Given his limited impact and the fact that he is still on a rookie contract, the Raiders may see value in trading him rather than keeping him on the roster.
Injuries also played a role in White’s struggles last season, as he suffered a quadriceps injury that hindered his ability to compete for playing time. With Alexander Mattison and Ameer Abdullah overshadowing him in the backfield, White’s future with the Raiders appears uncertain. If Las Vegas cannot find a trade partner, they may consider releasing him to free up roster space.
While White is unlikely to contend for a starting role in the near future, a change of scenery could offer him a fresh start. A new team might view him as a valuable backup option, giving him the opportunity to revive his career in a different system. As the offseason progresses, his trade status will be one to watch.
