The NFL offseason is heating up, and one name dominating the rumor mill is Stefon Diggs. After an injury-plagued season with the Houston Texans in 2024, the veteran wide receiver is set to hit free agency. Though his campaign was cut short by an ACL tear, Diggs still boasts an impressive résumé—but his time in Houston appears to be over. Now, speculation is growing that he could land with the Dallas Cowboys.
Diggs, who was traded from the Buffalo Bills to the Texans last year, failed to meet expectations in Houston. He recorded career lows across the board—targets, receptions, yards, and touchdowns. With his one-year deal now expired, the 31-year-old is searching for a new home, and Dallas may be the perfect landing spot.
The Cowboys have an obvious need at wide receiver. While CeeDee Lamb is a dominant force, Dallas lacks a true No. 2 option. Diggs, returning from injury, could thrive in a role where he doesn’t have to shoulder the burden of being the top target. But there’s another factor that makes this potential signing even more intriguing: his younger brother, Trevon Diggs.
Trevon, a star cornerback for the Cowboys, is also working his way back from an ACL tear that sidelined him for the entire season. With both brothers looking for a fresh start, a reunion in Dallas seems almost too perfect to ignore. The chemistry they already share could translate into something special on the field—and in the locker room.
Of course, there are concerns. Stefon Diggs carries a reputation for bringing a bit of drama wherever he goes. However, under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, Dallas may believe it can channel that energy in a productive way. The bigger obstacle, though, is financial. Diggs is projected to command around $13 million for a one-year deal, a steep price for a team already navigating cap constraints.
So, the question remains: Are the Cowboys willing to make a high-stakes gamble to strengthen their receiving corps and bring a family duo together? Some signs—and plenty of rumors—suggest that Stefon Diggs wearing the star could be more than just speculation.
