NFL analyst Bucky Brooks has ranked the top quarterback prospects, listing Shedeur Sanders from Colorado, Cam Ward from Miami, and Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss as the leading contenders. Each player has put up impressive stats throughout their college careers. Sanders, in just two seasons at the FBS level, amassed 7,364 passing yards, 64 touchdowns, and an outstanding 71.8% completion rate. Ward, across three seasons, recorded 11,281 passing yards, 87 touchdowns, and a 66% completion rate. Meanwhile, Dart’s four-year career has resulted in 11,970 passing yards, 81 touchdowns, and a 65.2% completion rate.
NFL Hall of Famer Kurt Warner recently appeared on The Joel Klatt Show and made his stance clear: Cam Ward is the best quarterback in this draft class. According to Warner, Ward possesses an exceptional quality that sets him apart. “Cam has a little extra,” Warner stated. “He’s got a uniqueness in the way he throws the football, and that’s what puts him ahead of the others.”
Warner explained that when comparing Ward to Sanders and Dart, he doesn’t see much difference in their decision-making or timing. However, Ward stands out due to his ability to generate more power behind his throws and deliver accurate passes from various angles. His throwing mechanics and overall arm talent give him an edge over the competition.
As the draft nears its April 24 start, teams looking for a franchise quarterback will have to weigh Warner’s insight against their own evaluations.
