HUGE BOOST: The Brother Of A Well Known Hookies Most Experienced Fans Top Star, A Talented Kicker From South Carolina Commited To The Hookies

Virginia Tech has a strong tradition of recruiting siblings, and they recently added another member to their roster. On Sunday, Will Love, a standout kicker from Spartanburg High School in South Carolina, committed to the Hokies for the 2026 recruiting class. Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 205 pounds, Will follows in the footsteps of his older brother, John Love, who has been the Hokies’ kicker for the past two seasons.

Will received an official offer from Virginia Tech in February. At the time, Norfolk State was his only other offer, though several regional Power Five programs expressed interest. This is common for kickers, as many teams prioritize other positions and extend offers to specialists later in the recruiting process.

In the 2024 season, Will showcased his abilities, making 24 of 25 extra-point attempts and 9 of 15 field goals. Some of his field goals were from significant distances, displaying his strong leg. He set a school record early in the season with a 51-yard field goal, which he later surpassed with a 54-yard field goal in October.

What makes Will’s story even more interesting is his connection to John Love, the Hokies’ current kicker. John has been a key player for Virginia Tech over the past two years, making all 89 of his extra-point attempts and 39 of 44 field goals, giving him an 88.6% success rate. His consistent performance earned him honorable mention All-ACC honors in both seasons. John has also excelled in long-distance kicks, making three of four attempts over 50 yards last season and 11 of 12 field goals between 40 and 49 yards in his career.

Will’s commitment to Virginia Tech is the second for the Hokies’ 2026 class, highlighting the strength of their kicking program. With John Love having two years of eligibility remaining, Virginia Tech will have a reliable kicking duo in the coming seasons. This sibling connection will bring continuity to the Hokies’ special teams, ensuring the program maintains a stable and strong kicking situation for years ahead.
