NFL UPDATE: BRONCOS HAS SEAL THE DEAL. Just Signed An Experienced Top Star, A North Carolina running back Who moves like Zach Charbonnet.

As the 2025 NFL Draft draws near, there’s a growing consensus among analysts regarding who the Denver Broncos are likely to select with the 20th overall pick. Initially, Michigan tight end Colston Loveland was widely projected as the Broncos’ top target in pre-free agency mock drafts. However, following the team’s acquisition of tight end Evan Engram during free agency, the attention has shifted toward a different position—and a new name has emerged as the favorite: North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton.

Several prominent NFL draft analysts now believe Hampton is the Broncos’ likely first-round selection. His name appears consistently in the latest mock drafts from experts across major sports outlets, including Ben Standig of The Athletic, Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA TODAY, Matt Brandon of Sports Illustrated, Robert Lorge of RotoBaller, Pete Prisco of CBS Sports, Nate Tice and Charles McDonald of Yahoo Sports, Reese Decker of Pro Football Network, Rob Rang of Fox Sports, Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network, and Jeff Risdon of Draft Wire.

Hampton’s draft stock has been boosted by a strong performance at the NFL Combine. Measuring 6 feet tall and weighing 221 pounds, he impressed scouts by running the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds and completing 18 bench press reps of 225 pounds. These numbers, paired with his college production, make him a compelling prospect. Over his final two seasons at the University of North Carolina, Hampton rushed for 3,164 yards and scored 30 touchdowns in just 25 games. His blend of size, speed, and physicality has drawn comparisons to current and former NFL backs such as Nick Chubb, James Conner, and Zach Charbonnet.

Observers have noted Hampton’s passionate running style and his ability to break tackles and gain tough yards—traits that align well with Denver’s offensive needs. With Javonte Williams dealing with injuries in recent seasons and the Broncos aiming to provide stability in the backfield, Hampton presents a logical and impactful addition.

The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled to take place in Wisconsin from April 24 to 26. The Broncos currently hold seven picks in this year’s draft, and if the growing consensus proves accurate, Hampton could very well be the first name they call. His arrival would signal a commitment by Denver to bolster their ground game and support their offense with a dynamic, workhorse back.

As the draft approaches, speculation will continue, but the current wave of mock drafts strongly suggests that Omarion Hampton is the player most likely to wear orange and blue this fall. His combination of collegiate production, athletic testing, and positional need makes him an ideal fit for a Broncos team looking to reestablish its identity in a competitive AFC West.
