Despite the interest, it seems unlikely the Raiders would use their valuable No. 6 overall pick on a quarterback, as the team has several other pressing needs to address on the roster.

However, the team faces a potential dilemma. With their next pick coming at No. 37 in the second round, there’s concern that several quarterbacks could be taken early in that round, leaving the Raiders with fewer viable options. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler shed light on the situation, mentioning that one quarterback in particular—Jalen Milroe—is especially interested in landing with the Raiders. During an appearance on SportsCenter, Fowler noted that Milroe has his eye on Las Vegas largely because of Geno Smith’s presence.

“Las Vegas Raiders, I know, are on [Jalen] Milroe’s radar because they have Geno Smith,” Fowler stated, via Bleacher Report. He added that Milroe would welcome the opportunity to sit behind Smith for a couple of seasons, learning the game before stepping into a starting role. This scenario aligns well with what many see as the ideal developmental path for Milroe, who could benefit greatly from not being rushed into action.

That said, Milroe may have to slide down the draft board for this situation to materialize. The Raiders are not expected to spend their No. 6 pick on him, and if they truly want him, they might need to explore trade options to move back into the later part of the first round. Such a move, however, could come at a significant cost, both in terms of draft capital and long-term team-building strategy.

Las Vegas does appear to be a strong fit for Milroe. With Geno Smith likely to start for the next couple of seasons, Milroe would have time to develop behind a seasoned veteran without the pressure of immediate performance. This developmental approach could set him up for long-term success in the NFL. Whether the Raiders make a bold move to bring him in remains to be seen, but both sides seem to see potential in the match.
