Georgia Southern defensive tackle Elhadj Fall has officially announced his transfer to Virginia Tech, joining the Hokies after a successful stint in the Sun Belt Conference. Fall made a name for himself over the past two seasons as one of the conference’s top defensive tackles and was recognized in 2024 with an All-Sun Belt Conference Honorable Mention. During the previous season, he was a key contributor for Georgia Southern, appearing in all 13 games and starting in one. According to the university’s athletic department, Fall participated in 477 total plays—436 on defense and 42 on special teams. His season stats include 20 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, a pass breakup, one quarterback hurry, and a blocked extra point attempt.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 290 pounds, Fall adds both size and experience to Virginia Tech’s defensive front, which is currently undergoing a significant rebuild. The Hokies have seen sweeping changes since finishing with a 6-7 record last season under head coach Brent Pry. Over 20 players have departed the team, and both offensive and defensive coordinators were replaced in the offseason. Pry responded to the disappointing season by hiring new coordinators—Phillip Montgomery on offense and Sam Siefkes on defense—aiming to reset the program’s trajectory.

Virginia Tech’s defensive line is now anchored by players such as Kelvin Gilliam Jr., Kemari Copeland, James Djonkam, and Ben Bell, all of whom are competing to fill the void left by former standout players Aeneas Peebles and Antwaun Powell-Ryland Jr., both of whom were selected in the most recent NFL Draft. Coming out of high school, Fall received offers from Jacksonville State, Georgia Southern, Navy, and Morehouse College.
