Eagles Hit with Setback: Former Auburn Lineman Departs Ahead of NFL Playoffs!

As the Philadelphia Eagles gear up for their NFL playoff clash against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon, the team faces an unexpected hurdle that could impact their Super Bowl LIX aspirations.

Philadelphia, which has displayed remarkable depth and resilience throughout the season, is adjusting its roster just days before the playoffs begin. On Friday, the Eagles placed offensive lineman Jack Driscoll on injured reserve due to an ankle injury that appeared on Thursday’s injury report. Driscoll, a former Auburn standout, had played a crucial role for the Eagles this season, appearing in 12 games as a reserve before stepping up to play all 68 offensive snaps at right guard during the team’s regular-season finale—a 20-13 win over the New York Giants, where many starters were rested.

Driscoll has been a reliable presence for the Eagles since joining the team as a fourth-round draft pick in 2020. Over his NFL career, he has played in 67 regular-season games and four playoff games, starting 18 games across multiple positions on the offensive line, including right guard, right tackle, and left tackle.

To address Driscoll’s absence, the Eagles promoted offensive lineman Brett Toth from their practice squad, ensuring depth on the offensive line as the team enters the high-stakes postseason. Despite this adjustment, losing Driscoll is a blow to the Eagles’ offensive line, known for its strength and consistency.

Driscoll’s injury leaves seven former Auburn players remaining on active NFL playoff rosters.

These include:

  • Pittsburgh Steelers nose tackle Montravius Adams,
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker K.J. Britt and cornerback Jamel Dean,
  • Los Angeles Chargers long snapper Josh Harris,
  • Washington Commanders cornerback Noah Igbinoghene,
  • Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix,
  • and Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Colby Wooden.

As the Eagles prepare for a possible Super Bowl appearance, the loss of Driscoll adds another element of difficulty. However, Philadelphia’s adaptability and depth will be critical as they pursue Super Bowl LIX.
