Allow Me To Be The First To Congratulate Max Verstappen On His 2024 Formula One Championship—It’s Just Testing,.
The three-time Formula One champion completed a lap in testing 1.140 seconds faster than the field.
It’s got to end, man—Max Verstappen’s insane skill combined with an Adrian Newey-designed vehicle. They are unable to continue getting away with this. These psychopaths must just destroy the opposition after winning the 2023 title with the most dominant season in Formula One ever. They won’t settle for anything less than the greatest. The 2024 RB20 is an entirely new aerodynamic idea, not an evolution of the RB19 from the previous year, and it appears Red Bull has picked much more speed than the rest of the grid already. Although we can’t entirely rule out other teams stuffing a few sandbags into their vehicles as it’s only pre-season testing, we can all agree that Max will win the championship this year.
Examine your emotions. You are aware of its truth.
The Dutchman took the tournament by storm when he arrived in Bahrain on Wednesday. In addition to turning a 1:31.344 lap (which is faster than Lando Norris’s best time for McLaren, which was 1:32.484), the Red Bull Racing driver completed 143 laps of testing. The average number of laps completed by each of the eighteen drivers that participated in the first day of testing, including Max’s outlier, was only 68.6. George Russell led the Mercedes with 122 laps, while Logan Sargeant only completed 21 in the Williams. Max completed the most laps of the day—two and a half races—while still setting the quickest time.
Red Bull was leading the McLaren and Mercedes teams in single lap time by the end of 2023, but the RB19 had far superior race speed since it was much easier on its tires than the competition. They might as well declare Max the winner now if that holds true in 2024. Thankfully, the McLaren, Ferrari, Visa Cash App RB, Alpine, and Aston Martins all finished within a second of one another, meaning that the battle for second place should be quite competitive for those who haven’t given up on Formula One. Russell’s best time was 2.765 seconds slower than Verstappen’s, suggesting that Mercedes (we hope) never executed a push lap.
In 2024, we can rely on Red Bull leading the way and Haas following closely behind. To find out where the other eight teams stack up, 24 races will be required. Does it make sense to watch to find out?
Testing is ongoing in Bahrain through February 23. On March 1, qualifying takes place at the same track, and on March 2, the lights go out for the first Grand Prix of the 2024 season. Max, congratulations!
