For nearly two decades, Aaron Rodgers was the face of the Green Bay Packers, a legend who once believed he would retire in the same jersey he donned since 2005. But as history often repeats itself, the same fate that pushed Brett Favre out of Green Bay came for Rodgers. In 2020, the Packers drafted Jordan Love—a move that all but confirmed Rodgers’ days in Green Bay were numbered, whether he liked it or not.
Unwilling to let anyone else dictate his career’s fate, Rodgers orchestrated his way out, landing with the New York Jets after the 2022 season. The move was meant to be a renaissance, a new chapter brimming with championship aspirations. Instead, it became a nightmare.
In a cruel twist of fate, Rodgers’ highly anticipated debut with the Jets in 2023 ended after just four offensive snaps—his Achilles ruptured, his season obliterated in an instant. The devastating injury sidelined him for the rest of the year, leaving the Jets in disarray. Yet, Rodgers vowed to return in 2024, determined to lead his team back to playoff glory.
But fate had other plans.
The Jets spiraled to a 5-12 finish, and while Rodgers managed to put up respectable numbers—3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and an 90.5 passer rating—it was clear that tensions within the organization had reached a breaking point. A shake-up at head coach and general manager, coupled with growing friction between Rodgers and owner Woody Johnson, sealed the deal: the Jets no longer wanted him in 2025.
Rodgers, however, has never been one to let others write his final chapter. If the Jets wouldn’t have him, he would find another home. And now, as the NFL world watches in suspense, an unexpected twist emerges: Aaron Rodgers is reportedly close to signing with the New York Giants.
According to NFL insider Art Stapleton, the negotiations between Rodgers and the Giants are already well underway.
“From my understanding right now… they are pretty significantly down a road where they are negotiating to the point where, if Rodgers ends up a Giant before the start of the league year, it would not be a shock to people in this area and at the Meadowlands,” Stapleton revealed on The Pat McAfee Show.
A move to the Giants would allow Rodgers to stay in New Jersey, but it would also bring a tantalizing prospect—revenge. In 2025, the Green Bay Packers will travel to New York. If Rodgers dons Giants blue, he will have the chance to face the team that once pushed him aside, setting the stage for one of the most electrifying matchups in recent history.
Is this the final chapter in Rodgers’ storied career, or just another dramatic twist? The NFL world waits with bated breath.
