Newcastle have seen speculation ramp up regarding Alexander Isak’s future but the Magpies are instead looking to offoad Miguel Almiron, who could return to the MLS
Newcastle are close to negotiating the sale of Miguel Almiron – who is willing to leave the club this month.
The Magpies are assessing their squad throughout the January transfer window as they look to remain compliant with the PSR rules. A lot of speculation has centred around their biggest names, particularly Alexander Isak, but they have no interest in parting with their star man.
Instead they’re looking to sell off some of their fringe players to raise capital with Almiron likely to move on in the coming weeks. Atlético Mineiro and Atlanta United are two clubs to have made approaches for the 30-year-old in the market.
Atlético Mineiro have seen a €7.5million (£6.3m) bid for the Paraguay international turned down by Newcastle – Eddie Howe’s side want around €9.7m (£8.1m) before they sanction any sale. Radio Itatiaia report Atlanta United are getting close to that figure as they bid to bring their former player, who left for Newcastle in 2019. Almiron himself has given the ‘green light’ to return to the MLS outfit.
