After the Bills’ hopes of winning the Super Bowl were dashed by yet another close playoff loss, the 2024 NFL Draft—which will take place in Detroit, Michigan—will be significant for the team.
Sean McDermott, the head coach of Buffalo, has a fantastic roster at his disposal; all he needs to do now is acquire the best players to advance his club.
Wide receiver and defensive line are the positions that are most in need of personnel. Safety, cornerback, and edge rusher are not far behind.
With a 28th-round selection, McDermott’s club is well-positioned to acquire a player who can make an immediate impact.
The following five players are ones the Bills ought to pick in this year’s draft:
1. Safety Mike Sainristil
Sainristil, a nickelback for the Michigan Wolverines, is one of the most distinctive players to hit collegiate football in a long time. His team won a national championship.
Sainristil, the captain of the club, began his playing days as a wide receiver. Using such abilities, he moved to the secondary, where he finished the previous season with six interceptions, 26 tackles, and six passes defensed.
With the ball in his hands, Sainristil shown explosiveness as he recorded 232 interception return yards and two scores. He’s a fantastic playmaker and leader who, by himself, can light up a locker room.
Brian Thomas, Jr., Wide Receiver
This past season, Thomas played opposite phenom Malik Nabers for Jayden Daniels and the LSU Tigers, totaling almost 1,200 yards.
The Bills could use a high-caliber producer who wouldn’t mind playing opposite Stefon Diggs. That kind of player is Thomas Jr.
3. Roman Wilson, WR
Wilson’s colleagues claim he is the fastest player on Michigan’s championship squad. In addition, he is an assertive leader who leads by example and is a self-assured player.
Josh Allen, the QB for the Bills, thinks the same way. Wilson would provide the Bills with a reliable, tough-minded receiver who is equally adept at blocking and catching passes.
In the third round, when NFL.com projects he will be selected, he would be a steal. If his stock continues to rise, the Bills could need to select him in the second round.
4. Wide receiver Keon Coleman
If Diggs is not dealt, the Florida State standout possesses the height and big-play ability to be a vertical danger to defenses when he plays next to Dalton Kincaid and Stefon Diggs in the passing game.
A high-risk, high-reward player who occasionally allows his emotions to get the better of him, he thrived at Florida State playing next to standout quarterback Jordan Travis.
Coleman only had 50 catches in the previous season, albeit 11 of those were for touchdowns; he has to increase his performance and consistency.
5. Edge’s Chris Braswell
Braswell, an Alabama native and 6-foot-3, 255-pound EDGE, possesses the bulk, output, and reliability to strengthen the Bills’ defense.
He could be available anywhere from the late first to the early second round; he has eight sacks the previous season.
If the Bills believe the value justifies it, they may trade into the early second round or choose him with the 28th pick.
