OC Greg Roman Breaks Down His Longtime Relationship With Jim Harbaugh
The Los Angeles Chargers signed offensive coordinator Greg Roman earlier this summer to work alongside new head coach Jim Harbaugh. Of all, Roman and Harbaugh have a long history together, so the appointment was not a surprise.
Roman and Harbaugh originally worked together at Stanford in 2009, when Harbaugh was the head coach and Roman was appointed as the assistant head coach. They subsequently coached together with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014.
Roman offered further details about his friendship with Harbaugh.
“I love everything about him. He’s a unique individual in every sense of the term. He’s a terrific guy first and foremost, so it’s always nice to have a lot of respect for the person you work for, which I surely do. For me, he was the first person who truly believed in me and gave me an opportunity when I went to Stanford with him, then to the 49ers, and so on.” We had a good run there.”
According to what Roman has indicated, he and Harbaugh have a solid connection, which should reflect on how the Chargers offense performs on the field next season. Roman and Harbaugh are already working on their third team together. Even though they haven’t worked on the same club, Roman has remained connected to the Harbaughs by working for Jim’s brother, John Harbaugh, on the Baltimore Ravens from 2017 to 2022.
Aside from their personal connection, they’ve had success on the field together. Roman and Harbaugh previously worked together on the 49ers, when they won three NFC Championship games and made one Super Bowl trip. If they can reproduce it with the Chargers, the Bolts will have a lot to shout about.
