Houston Texans Famous Player Just Joins, And He is Interested In

LB Azeez Al-Shaair is interested in joining the Texans

Last year, two former 49ers decision-makers relocated to the AFC South, opening up possibilities for unattached San Francisco cogs.Azeez Al-Shaair joined Ran Carthon’s Titans on a one-year agreement. Following his success in 2023, the former 49ers linebacker hopes to return to the division.

Prepare for free agency. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the old Fred Warner-Dre Greenlaw sidekick is considering returning to DeMeco Ryans in Houston.

Al-Shaair’s tackle total increased, becoming the greatest in a single season in Titans history (1999–present). After attempting to be an every-down player, Al-Shaair’s Tennessee stint could result in a stronger market than he experienced in 2023. The Titans paid merely $5 million for Al-Shaair. With the 49ers extending Green Law in 2022, Al-Shaair’s route out of San Francisco seems clear. However, Ryans coached him throughout both of his seasons as the 49ers’ defensive coordinator and as San Francisco’s inside linebackers coach the previous two years.

Last season, the Texans utilized Christian Harris and Blake Cashman as regular linebackers. Whereas Harris was a previous third-round pick, Cashman had mostly served as a special-teamer before to last season. The former Jets fifth-round pick had a great year under Ryans, with 106 tackles, two sacks, and one interception. Wilson expects Cashman to draw some attention as a free agent. Al-Shaair is expected to cost more than Cashman in free agency, and the former 49ers UDFA has significantly more experience under Ryans.
