“I became upset because a significant portion of my career had disappeared. During the Netflix Slam news conference, he stated, “At the end of the day, playing against each other, we probably shared our most important moments in our tennis careers.”
However, he made it clear that Federer’s retirement had no bearing on his own decision to consider calling it quits, pointing instead to his own series of health setbacks as the impetus.
“I was first and foremost moved by the departure of the most graceful player I have ever seen on the circuit. Second, as I’ve already stated, I lost a piece of myself with him, but it didn’t stop me from retiring,” Nadal remarked.
“More than anything else, my body has allowed me to get near to retirement because my enthusiasm for what I do keeps my head in good shape,” he continued.
Following the Spaniard’s remarks, tennis fans began to converse, with one person praising the remarkable friendship and competition that he and Federer enjoy.
“A piece of my life left with him”—what lovely words! These two had a really unique relationship. The greatest rivalry in history, with amazing rivals and allies. I hope Nadal’s physique permits him to play for a long time,” the supporter said.
Another fan, though, objected to the 37-year-old’s comments, saying they showed that he seemed to be trying to downplay Djokovic’s significance to his career.
“He nearly always attempts to downplay the part Djokovic had in his career, whereas Djokovic frequently speaks openly about his emotions and the influence Nadal had on his success. The fan said, “Djokovic is and was honest when behind and ahead of Nadal.”
Another admirer said, “As a Nadal fan, I think the matches he had with Djokovic were higher.”
“Insane person” would compare the resumes of the Big 3 and ignore the 24-time Grand Slam champion.
“I witnessed the hardest contest I had ever seen when I watched Federer at his best. “On his ‘Served with Andy Roddick’ podcast, he stated that he is the last player I would want to play because he was the best player who stacked up against my game type.”
“However, you align the resumes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic; if you select any other player but Novak, you are a deranged person.” That’s just the way things are. Everything else comes down to personal taste in entertainment,” he continued.
