Keeping Kraken assistants together is the next problem, according to Dave Hakstol’s extension.
After Kraken coach Dave Hakstol’s two-year contract extension last week, his assistants’ outstanding work was a frequently mentioned subject.
During a quick visit to the town, Hakstol informed the gathered reporters, “Our staff works hard.” “I don’t think I could work with a group of guys that put in as much work as our guys do.”
“I never felt that the team wasn’t prepared,” said Ron Francis, general manager of Kraken, in a separate statement to me.
Praise for a coaching staff is nothing uncommon, though, especially when the head coach receives a contract extension. Hakstol was a nominee for the NHL coach of the year award in the Jack Adams Award. However, in this instance, the compliments ring truer than self-serving flattery.
