Devin Harper of Calvary Baptist committed to play for LSU, adding another outstanding talent to its class of 2025 recruits. The native of Shreveport is a six-five, 300-pound interior offensive lineman who is rated as a four-star prospect. He is ranked as the fifth-best interior offensive lineman in the nation and the third-best player overall in Louisiana’s ’25 class by the 247Sports composite.
Harper’s Recruitment
The LSU offensive line, under the direction of offensive line coach Brad Davis, has developed into one of the team’s most gifted position groupings. For the third straight year, Davis’ uncomplicated demeanor played a crucial role in securing the top offensive lineman in the state. Harper talked on how Davis affected his mother.
My mother accompanied me to an LSU visit for the first time, and she was impressed. Harper stated, “She adores Coach Brian Kelly and Coach Brad Davis. “First of all, Coach Brad Davis is the best coach I’ve ever met,” he said. He so had a major role. Nothing compares to LSU’s culture. I had complete faith in the university and felt at ease with the aim to grow as a person.
Harper is expected to play interior linebacker, but he plays left tackle for Calvary. On his footage, a player is shown playing through the whistle and getting off the ball quickly. With the body like a natural road grader, he seals and forces defenders in the direction he wants them to travel with ease. Although Harper is fast and physical, he still has to work on his pass protection, just like most high school prospects. His ability to rapidly chip and get to the second level of defense at his size is his most amazing playmaking talent.
Impressive Start for 2025
Ten pledges have been made by the Tigers for the class of 2025. With Harper’s pledge, LSU now has two offensive linemen, including Bret Bordelon, who committed as an offensive tackle. Currently, the Tigers have seven commitments from Louisiana, all of them are considered among the state’s top ten prospects. Among Georgia and Tennessee, he choose LSU.
Following a visit to LSU for its Cajun Bash Junior Day recruiting event, Harper announced his commitment. It was a successful event, as Harper committed three days after 2025 cornerback Jaboree Antoine committed to LSU. In the state, Antoine is the second-ranked player.
Regarding the class of ’25, LSU is the highest ranked group. Quarterback Bryce Underwood, who is rated as the finest player overall, is one of the athletes who has committed to the Tigers on many occasions.
Who’s Next on the Recruiting Trail?
All signs point to more success for the LSU staff at Calvary Baptist for the class of 2025. James Simon, a running back with over 20 scholarship offers from prestigious universities, is favored by the Tigers. Although he hasn’t decided when to commit, the four-star recruit would prefer to do so before his senior year.
The Tigers hosted DJ Pickett, a native of Florida, on Wednesday in their relentless pursuit of a potentially record ’25 class. Although some agencies rank Pickett as a safety, LSU is recruiting him as a cornerback. He is a rangy, 6’3″ athlete weighing 170 pounds, and he is also thinking about Florida and Michigan. In his return to LSU, cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond is placing a strong emphasis on pursuing premier prospects.
LSU may yet add students to its class of 2024. On Wednesday, Terry Bussey from Timpson, Texas, also made a visit to Baton Rouge. As the best athlete in the nation, Bussey is being recruited by LSU to play defensive back. The five-star athlete has long been committed to Texas A&M, but following an Aggie coaching change, he made the decision to visit other universities. The ultimate decision by Bussey will be made on February 7, National Signing Day.
