After 62 games this season, Marner, 26, has 25 goals and 76 points.

William Nylander will play alongside Auston Matthews against the Habs in lieu of Marner.

The NHL trade deadline was one day prior to the game.

Goalie Jake Allen was traded by the Canadiens to the New Jersey Devils, and the Leafs added Connor Dewar from the Minnesota Wild to boost their blue line corps.

The Boston Bruins, who defeated Toronto twice this week, are expected to meet the Leafs in the playoffs as they presently occupy the third spot in the Atlantic Division.
