Tennessee has received the commitment of four-star defensive end Ethan Utley.
a huge pickup.

On Thursday night, Tennessee received good news when four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley committed. The Nashville native handed Tennessee an early advantage in the 2025 recruiting class by selecting the Volunteers over the Texas Longhorns.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Utley is ranked 161st in the class. He is the 19th ranked defensive lineman in the cycle and the fourth-ranked player in Tennessee.

Ensworth High School is home to the 6-3, 265-pound athlete. Utley also competes in track and field throwing events and plays basketball for the squad. Utley made 35 total tackles as a junior, including seven for loss. Throughout the season, he forced four fumbles and had six quarterback hits. Utley received credit for ten tackles for loss in 2022.

Because of Rodney Garner’s efforts on the trail, Tennessee was able to hold off Texas for Utley. The difference was most likely a long-standing friendship, as Garner now has another component up front to shape moving forward.

Tennessee has made ten pledges for the class of 2025. The only recruit with a better ranking than Utley is George MacIntrye, a five-star quarterback. According to 247Sports, the Volunteers now rank eighth in the 2025 class rankings.
