Georgia: An Offensive Piece Is Lost On The New Spring Transfer Portal
The Georgia Bulldogs have been the best collegiate football team for the last three seasons. The new spring transfer portal went live on Monday, costing the Bulldogs two players. Players have been lost to the portal by even a school that has won two of the last three National Championships.
Georgia Sees Backward Running Earlier today, Andrew Paul entered the portal. Bulldog offensive player Andrew Paul wasn’t the first to do so on Monday afternoon.
Hicks Braxton Enters Through the Door
Braxton Wide receiver Lee Hicks wrote a heartfelt letter to Georgia and its fans on the social media site X. He declared his desire to make use of the transfer portal as well.
I’m registering on the Transfer Portal as a graduate transfer with two years left on my eligibility. Thank you to UGA and the Dawgs. 🐶💯 #GodsPlan pic.twitter.com/e9LthI4Csv

Georgia native Hicks, a junior, hasn’t actually seen the field since starting college.
After learning that his playing time would be limited and waiting to see how spring practices would go, Hicks presumably made the decision to join the gateway.

In the SEC, there is a spring portal and a winter portal. Once you are in the spring portal, you cannot play right away after transferring to a new SEC team. You can begin playing immediately and use the winter portal to transfer to another SEC school. However, you cannot switch between SEC schools once the spring portal opens.
Hicks is most likely going to transfer to a lesser school where he can see the field, as he isn’t going to be able to sit in the SEC while wearing a Bulldogs jersey.
