Second baseman Zack Gelof was listed in the Oakland A’s starting lineup today, as he has been in every game this season. A few hours later, the team declared that he was going to miss the game against the New York Yankees on Wednesday because of soreness in his left abdomen. In place of Gelof, Abraham Toro will bat sixth and get the start.
After making his debut in the second half of the previous season, Gelof became the face of the team and has since begun the season batting.196 with a.260 OBP and a 79 wRC+ (100 is the league average).
