When David arrived on set to join word-loving “Total Access” host Rhett Lewis, Lewis asked David what he would have used to roast Brady if he had been allowed to go on stage.

Rhett then questioned David about any lessons or ideas he still employs from Brady’s time with the Bucs. There is, according to David.

According to David, one thing he has continued from the Brady era is the way Brady handled practices. Brady, according to David, is just as focused during practice as he is during a game.

“When you see that, it gives you a sense of motivation to follow that same path,” David said.

David made the interesting addition that Mayfield also has fierce competition in practices. Thus, the quarterback’s practice intensity is still present.

Rhett questioned David about his thoughts on the way the national NFL media, following their 2020 Super Bowl victory, has bowed down to Kirk Cousins and the Dixie Chicks, even though the Bucs have won the NFC South three times in a row.

With a shrug, David seemed to be saying, “Same old Bucs.”

“It’s been like that for a while,” David said.

David mentioned that he and Mike Evans want to leave a legacy with the Bucs in their last years that players can aspire to and follow after they retire, but Rhett did not question him about his future in football.

Joe regrettably feels that the day is drawing near.
