Tadej Pogačar claims that his own departure was influenced by Urška Zigart’s non-selection for the Olympics.
The winner of the Tour de France, Tadej Pogačar, has stated that he decided not to compete since Slovenia did not choose his fiancée, Urška Zigart, for the Olympic Games in Paris.
On August 3, Pogačar withdrew from consideration for the road race; this week, the Slovenia Olympic Team confirmed the news. He cited exhaustion as the cause of his withdrawal.
Speaking on Wednesday before the Profronde Surhuisterveen, a Dutch post-Tour de France criterium, Pogačar disclosed that his departure was also influenced by the choice to exclude Zigart.
