The Miami Heat were somewhat more active on Friday after a quiet day on the trade deadline.

They added guard Alondes Williams to their roster and are likely to dismiss R.J. Hampton, a former first-round choice. ESPN was the first to report the news.

Williams is averaging 20 points per game for the G League affiliate in Sioux Falls. He attended the Heat training camp last autumn. Orlando Robinson, Haywood Highsmith, Duncan Robinson, and other Heat development projects are anticipated to come after him.

Hampton has had difficulty settling into the NBA despite being the Orlando Magic’s No. 24 pick in 2020. In eight games during his rookie campaign, he averaged 1.3 points and one assist for the Heat.

Hampton’s debut season with the Heat saw him average 1.3 points and 1.0 assists in eight games. He struggled in the G League for the majority of the year. On 45% shooting, he only averaged 11.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and four assists.

The Heat have until the end of the buyout period to locate a seasoned player, even though they didn’t make any major acquisitions. Kevin Love was signed by them last year after the deadline.
