The Falcons are fully operational as the 32 clubs officially start their offseason after yesterday night’s Super Bowl.
Although Raheem Morris was hired for a variety of reasons, his ability to assemble a superior coaching staff was one of the main drivers. It appears that Morris entered the interview process with the knowledge that Zac Robinson—the most sought-after offensive coordinator prospect of the cycle—would accompany him to his new job.
Morris also chose Jimmy Lake to be his defensive coordinator; if the Falcons’ new head coach chose him, he deserves some leeway even though it wasn’t the headline pick Robinson was.
Relying on his connections, he brought numerous coaches from Los Angeles to Atlanta. Along with Morris, Robinson, Lake, offensive assistants Nick Jones and K.J. Black, and pass game specialist/game management Tim Berbenich all worked as assistant coaches for the Rams.
We are also able to add another name to that pipeline. The Los Angeles Rams deputy director of strength and conditioning John Griffin is set to be hired by the Falcons to fill the position of lead strength and conditioning, according to 247Sports.
Morris spent the whole time in Los Angeles with the 35-year-old. In 2021, he started as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. The previous offseason, he was promoted.
The Falcons coaching staff is gelling well, and Raheem Morris’s choice of Atlanta associates is obviously heavily influenced by his contacts.
