Even though the Chiefs of Kansas City have won the Super Bowl, the NFL Draft season has officially begun, and the Ravens of Baltimore must now get ready for their revenge tour. After losing the AFC Championship game to the Chiefs by a single touchdown, Baltimore almost missed the big game. However, a recent mock draft indicates that the team’s goal is to improve the explosiveness of their offense by selecting Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman.
The Seminoles were in the running for the playoffs throughout the majority of the college football season in 2023 thanks in large part to Coleman’s dominance. Lamar Jackson needs a bigger-bodied wide receiver, and Keon Coleman (6-4, 215) is just that, according to CBS. “Coleman is a skillful route runner with exceptional understanding of how to best use his body to maintain leverage against defenders. He can line up anywhere.” There is a case to be made for Coleman being this class’s most hotly contested catcher. He’s a fantastic athlete who will dominate the NFL’s red zone.
Lamar Jackson, the quarterback for the Ravens, won his second MVP award this past season and showed great connection with rookie wide out Zay Flowers. If you exclude tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely, Baltimore’s receiving core wasn’t all that great aside from Flowers.
Given how varied and complementary their skill sets are, Coleman—who scored 11 touchdowns in his one and only season in Tallahassee after transferring from Michigan State—and Flowers may be devastating for the current MVP. Although it’s early in the selection process, Baltimore supporters should keep an eye on Coleman as the NFL Combine draws nearer later this month.
