The film “Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness,” which tells the narrative of Amedeo Modigliani, was directed by the 61-year-old celebrity, and Johnny has discussed his relationship with the Italian artist.

The Hollywood actor said at the San Sebastian International Film Festival: “Each has their narrative. Yes, it’s true that I have experienced a variety of things from time to time. You know, though, I’m fine.

“In the end, I believe that we have all experienced a variety of things. Perhaps yours wasn’t, didn’t become a televised soap opera, in fact.

“Yet everything we feel and go through is universal. And these are your stripes—those things that allow us to survive, remember, and make use of. You will always remember them.

“So to see these people all on the … teetering on the verge of earning their stripes, desperate to speak but unable to … in a way.”

In 2022, Johnny and his ex-wife Amber Heard engaged in a well-publicized legal battle. Johnny has since admitted to purposefully removing himself from the Hollywood scene.

At the Cannes Film Festival, he stated at a press conference: “Do I feel boycotted now? No, not at all. However, I don’t give it much thought, so I don’t feel like Hollywood is boycotting me. I keep Hollywood out of my mind.

“I don’t have much further need for Hollywood myself.”

Johnny turned 60 years old last year, and at the time, a source said that the actor had “moved on” from his personal struggles.

“He’s been able to touch all these different parts of his life that he hadn’t been able to do that much before because he was so busy dealing with the matters tied to the Amber trial,” the insider told PEOPLE in the past year.

“It’s nice for him to be an artist first and foremost.”
