As he works to assemble the best Formula 1 squad possible, Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur doesn’t seem to be slowing down, and Red Bull technical director Pierre Wache is the most recent person on his radar.
Even though the 2024 season hasn’t begun yet, there is a lot of anticipation for 2025, when Lewis Hamilton joins Ferrari.
Dutch writer and pundit Nelson Valkenberg discussed his thoughts on the 49-year-old’s future in an interview with The Race Podcast.
Vasseur desires to join Ferrari with Wache.
It’s difficult to think that anyone will be able to compete with Red Bull this year after their dominance last season.
To try and reduce the gap, their closest competitors will be hoping that they have made significant progress during the winter.
But Red Bull has some really gifted people working behind the scenes to provide the fastest car to Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
Adrian Newey receives a lot of praise, which seems sense considering his sustained success in Formula 1.
Pierre Wache, the technical director, has also performed admirably, which is why Ferrari’s Frederic Vasseur wants to hire him.
After Wache switched to Red Bull, the two worked together at Sauber, where Frederic Vasseur was appointed team principal.
Lewis Hamilton had already worked with the 55-year-old, and this may have contributed to his decision to join Ferrari the following season. Hamilton is a seven-time world champion.
Now, he’ll be hoping that his connection to Wache will enable him to land another high-profile target.
Ferrari ready for 2025 Formula One Title Challenge.
Regarding Wache’s future, Valkenberg stated: “Christian Horner is under a lot of pressure to find a solution to this whole issue.”
Fred Vasseur is known to have Pierre Wache’s phone number. He will be contacting to secure the last piece for his technical staff, obtain one important name from Mercedes, but mostly from Red Bull, and I anticipate that he will be going after Wache.
“So, in that battle with the likes of Ferrari in the future, stability within the team will also be crucial.”
Wache is a good fit for Vasseur, who will understand the value of having the proper people around him at Ferrari.
Taking the best employees from companies like Red Bull and Mercedes will only further their goals.
Carlos Sainz in particular and Charles Leclerc won’t want to wait another year for such changes to happen.
However, when the next round of significant F1 rule changes are implemented, 2026 might be Ferrari’s best opportunity to eventually win another championship.
